Paul is a Principal Teaching Fellow with responsibility for teaching Junior Honours students good experimental design and analysis across the broad range of topics within psychology. Paul was awarded a Special Award for Outstanding Contribution to Conferences. Presented by Prof. Richard Gregory on behalf of the Association of Psychology Teachers in Ireland. (2004)
He is concerned with the development of Computer Assisted Instruction software and in particular the influence of interactivity and animation on the development and maintenance of mental models in the computer environment. That may sound rather dull but the field is so full of hi-tech, super-duper, bells and whistles software with no underlying pedagogy that you have to ask the question "Is it really better than curling up with a good book?".
