While many studies have been conducted exploring the socio-cognitive abilities of monkeys and apes, there are very few that explore these abilities in prosimian species (e.g. lemurs).

My PhD, supervised by Prof Richard Byrne and Dr Juan Carlos Gómez, focuses on social information gathering in two lemur species (Eulemur fulvus and Eulemur macaco). Specifically, I am interested in finding out to what cues lemurs visually attend in other individuals, in what contexts they do so, and how they might use the information provided. My research is based at the Centre de Primatologie in Strasbourg, France, in collaboration with Dr Jean-Jacques Roeder, and investigates visual co-orientation, gaze alternation, and social reference.

I am funded by the Overseas Research Student Award Scheme (ORSAS) provided by the British Council and also the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation.
