  Dr Leda Blackwood

I am a postdoctoral researcher in social psychology working with Steve Reicher, Nick Hopkins, Jeffrey Murer, Anja Eller, and Pat Cronin on a British Council and Scottish Institute for Policing Research (SIPR) funded project. The project looks at encounters between young people and Muslims on the one hand and authorities (including the police) on the other, with a view to better understanding factors contributing to alienating communities and increasing (or decreasing) community members' trust in authorities. My previous research looks at inter and intra-group processes associated with participating in social change movements and with the expression of prejudice.

Research for my PhD thesis, Social-contextual influences on union participation: A group processes approach to explaining collective action, was conducted under the supervision of Julie Duck and Deborah Terry at the University of Queensland, Australia.
