Longest-serving member of the technical staff within the School. Started as a trainee in 1974. Now Grade F and the University's first qualified "Mechatronics Technician". Key skills include optics, acoustics, computer interfacing, electronics, electrics, mechanics, metalwork and woodwork. During my time with the University I have gained the following qualifications:

  • City & Guilds (Advanced) Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
  • C & G, ONC, HNC and HND units in various programming languages and projects, Networking & Client/Server Systems, and Electrical Safety Testing.
  • In-house training certificates for Personnel Recruitment & Selection, Personal Effectiveness, and Supervisory Skills.
  • HND Mechatronics Engineering (2004) - Award for Best HND Electronics Student of the Year, 2004.
  • BSc in Engineering (with Distinction), 2006.
  • Currently "resting" in between qualifications!

Duties

Design and Construction The design, construction, maintenance and repair of research, office and teaching equipment and infrastructure.
Technical Staff Review Administration of the School's technical review
First-Aider Provision of emergency first-aid service.
 

Some of these duties are also shared with Andy Burnley.
